Materials Share: Comparatives with "AS...AS" & Comparing Quantities

I made these worksheets as extra practice partially at the request of my students and partially because there aren't a lot of materials out there that deal with equatives and comparing amounts.

Worksheet I

Making Comparatives with “AS”

For each example, write a sentence with “AS/AS” to mean the same thing

1. Mary is taller than Max.= Max isn't as tall as Mary
2. Max is older than John.
3. My hair is longer than your hair.
4. Mary's car is larger than Max's car.

5. Max is wiser than his brother.
6. My dog is bigger than your dog.
7. Max is thinner than John.
8. My mother is fatter than your mother.

9. This morning is more peaceful than yesterday morning.
10. Max is more careful than Mike.
11. Jill is more thoughtful than your sister.
12. John is happier today than he was yesterday.
13. Max is angrier than Mary.
14. Mary is busier than Max.
15. The roads in this town are narrower than the roads in the city.

16.Big dogs are gentler than small dogs.

17. John is more generous than Jack.
18.Health is more important than money.
19. Women are more intelligent than men.
20.My mother's cooking is worse than your mother's cooking.

Now write the opposite for each. 1. Mary is shorter than Max = Max isn't as short as Mary

Then change the meaning to be the same: 1. Mary and Max are the same height. = Mary is as tall as Max.
